Burning the Candle at both ends.

The month ahead if all goes to plan....

Since we last caught up, I have now sorted a few podcasts (fingers crossed, otherwise this will age poorly…). Fitzy and others have decided to help out in whatever pods they are available to attend.

One such idea that has grown some legs is that we are doing the 100km Surf Coast Century:

I loosely say we, as I will not be running further than perhaps 100m…Fitzy, however will be taking part, he has done it before. We have done a couple of runs (again, we means he has, I was on the one-wheel) for training, but he has completed the 100km Surf Coast Century before. We will however be hearing from Nick (a new guy) on the pod, he is yet to run a large endurance event and we will be speaking with him about how he is feeling. No doubt he will be having some large feelings of self doubt but then again, perhaps he’s ready and confident.

I am also super keen to go to the event and catch up with them at some of the hydration stations to capture some audio/video for you, but also play back to Nick and Fitzy after they have completed it, to hear themselves along the way. I would love to hear how they ended up versus how they were feeling during.

Which brings me to Imposters first purchase, I am looking to buy the DJI Mic 2 kit. This is possible (almost) due to the Savvy drinkers. Mark Curry (the beautiful man) gives you 17% off, he also gives us a kick back for you guys using our code (IMPOSTER) and it is going to result in us now being able to have audio on the road.

The benefits of this will be that I can film with my phone, have audio plugged in so it has crisp audio (missing at times, we know…) for video and besides that, I will always have little mics transportable so as to never miss a pod opportunity going forward. These little bad boys have 5 hours recording and the audio is saved in the mics. I am super optimistic (maybe overly…) about what benefits this will be able to achieve.

The filming of War Machine starts shortly, with a few of us in it… Jarryd Goundry will be making an appearance, as is Pete O’Hanlon, who I am trying to get on the pod, he won’t have an excuse when we are filming up in Bright, there’s always down time up there 😉

Pete wrote World War Bloody Timor and has been in some cool movies. Jarryd will be in Melbourne for a while and I will be doing my best to try and get him back on to tell us about how his national touring has been going.

We finally have some new episodes coming with new guests that have not been mentioned before. I am aware we have been quiet - I say we, but that is all on me. Unfortunately, I have been burning the candle at both ends. Between the movie filming, running for council, and working at Invictus I have accepted that I won’t be having a day off until the end of October. By then, I will either be a movie star and councillor, or I will just be tired and a failure. But as my old corflute used to say, Don’t Die Wondering….

In the meantime, I just wanted to point out, we have still had around 100 downloads per week…however it has been kicking me seeing that, I was getting decent angst over not putting new episodes out. I will be doing my best to pick it up and I hope these new mics - our Savvy buyers have enabled us to purchase - will be a game changer on content production.

Thank you so much for using our code (IMPOSTER), I hope you have all been really enjoying the product. I know I like to pretend I’ll promote anything (and look, everyone has a price… lol) but I really do stand by the calm water and brain boost. Both have been a value add to getting work done and then relaxing when things like ‘burn out’ start creeping into your mind.

I have a serious pre-workout issue, so I am open to a sponsor there if anyone knows one. Although they aren’t good for me at all, as much as I enjoy my face itching before doing lifts, it doesn’t help me achieve anything else ha ha.

Latest Musings

I’ve had ideas about moving into more podapalooza style episodes telling stories from being back in the job - talking cop, army, fire or general yarns from behind the scenes you likely won’t hear on any other true crime stories. Plus continuing to explore more of the topics that are brought up.

With the new mics, it will enable us to do challenges, simple filming at events as we try new things. I went to wheelchair basketball for example not long ago, I would like to bring along the imposters to try new things like that, archery, lawn bowls, dragon boating or whatever other events might be of interest. We can then report back, review it, and accept requests from you lot - whether it be for your amusement or because you were actually interested.

Doesn’t have to be a sport, could be going to a psychic convention or a networking breakfast. I’m sure there are plenty of things we haven’t thought of doing that our readers and listeners could help come up with.

Jarryd is also doing the Geelong Comedy festival and we will have to discuss with him if we are doing an imposter intro with the new dynamic or if we can come along to be behind the scenes. I am sure he hasn’t signed up to the newsletter so don’t tell him my plan.

Another thing I did that was interesting recently and completely unrelated…was a photo shoot for my council election. However, the photos definitely came out more of a John Dutton meets Farmer wants a wife love child scenario. Not saying I am against them… just that I should have worn a hat to complete the setting and could then run for Sheriff, not councillor.

How are you enjoying the newsletter so far? (feel free to hit reply and let me know… this is kind of like recording in the cupboard wondering if anyone is listening…)

If you think it is any good (I’d certainly accept you don’t..) i’d like to ask you to share it and if it grows, it will enable us to expand what we can offer you and other exciting developments when it gets to a certain amount of subscribers.

Do you want to get involved?

Let me know if you would be interested in coming on the podcast or writing a guest newsletter about who you are and how you heard about the podcast. What you get out of it, if anything or you just listen because you drive a forklift and you have hours a day to kill listening to anything you can.

Hopefully by the time you read another one of these, you will have heard us and we will have posted something new. Otherwise. My bad.

Thanks for reading and listening.
