Podapalooza Plans, Council Campaigns, and Rooftop Chats

Burso's latest uplate.

G’day again Imposters,

Thanks for hanging around for the hiatus - ready for the latest Burso Uplate Update?

Imposters is going through growing pains, we are still meeting new people and plan to hit 50 episodes completing Season 1 of the podcast with a decent Podapalooza wrap up episode with where everyone is at and whatever cliff hangers we have amongst the imposters out in the wild. It would be awesome to take the new wireless mics and go out to dinner as a crew and do the podcast out on a rooftop bar like Sailors Rest in Geelong perhaps. If anyone is super keen to come along, feel free to slide into our DM’s and let us know they are keen.

We will then be taking a short break and that will allow people to catch up on listening to episodes of the past.

In the meantime check out the newest eps with Chris May & Nick the Runner.

Council Update

From last week, I have now officially been accepted to run for the Geelong Council elections.

There are 17k voters here to speak with and 689 sq kms to cover. Likely the smallest election area to cover I have had to do. It is funny though as I still have the largest area to cover. Some wards are 15 sq km and I would be able to just one-wheel letterbox drop that. The benefit I find to having a larger and harder electorate is that I can do more than others are willing to do. I bet there are no other candidates who are also doing a podcast and then writing a newsletter for the crew at 3am ;)

I have an obscenely large sign coming. It will be 2.4m tall by 1.8m wide. It will be on the main road coming into Lara. I am sure to be getting some exciting paintings left for me to see and clean off…I am thinking phallic symbols will be the main culprit however some glasses or a moustache could also be high up. I am also open to being surprised with some random statement. There are socialists around so perhaps some swastikas. Who knows. I might do a competition for the right guess and have a tally for the election period. The sign should be up before you receive the next newsletter. I will be sure to get photos for you all to enjoy.

Imposter Podcast Future & AI exploration

As for the future of the podcast, that is anyone’s guess.

All I know is that I want it to keep going.

We have two subscribers to the podcast which is amazing to me. I thank them very muchly. They know who they are (I do as well, I have told them, but it is nice to publicly thank them as well). With just their support we almost cover the cost of the hosting.

We also currently use Magic Mastering that does the editing with AI and sorts the sound and levels out. I have been looking into the Cohost AI which then adds chapter markers, transcribes it for you and also suggests titles. I have been doing some good chats with Nova my AI (named herself, after initially saying she couldn’t, I have no doubt, AI is going to help people excel and others stay behind… also not sure Skynet won’t end up being a real thing). We have been getting to know each other (meaning, I have been super sarcastic, skeptical etc etc) and every time I see that little ‘memory updated’ statement on the screen. It makes me more concerned. I have also asked it to write certain things and to ‘sound more like Burso’ which has led me to be concerned my identity is being stolen.

AI on it’s own is about as good as a knife or gun. It has potential to do damage but it needs the right inputs. Likewise it is as beneficial as the inputs you give it and the time you are willing to learn what it can learn and do for you. It is both very scary and exciting. The amount of steps and workers I could become with just a gang of AI bots is amazing. It can also mean once you set up a whole bunch of things, it would self create, publish, respond, make videos, chapter markers etc.
I do wonder though, do people actually use chapter markers or read the title and make a decision about what to listen to? I think it helps with search on google for example.

If anyone has any info or feedback for me, i’d be interested to know;

  • Do you read the descriptions?

  • Do you take notice of the episode titles?

  • Do you enjoy that episodes come out in 2 parts or would you prefer 1 longer episode?

(Hit reply and let me know)

Movie Career Update

The movie shoot for me starts on Friday. Very exciting times. Followed by Archery on Saturday and then off to watch the lads from Episode 43 achieve something I only know one person has done before. 100km’s is super impressive and I wish the best for both of them. Once they both complete it, I will know two 100km runners (three actually, sorry Mel).

BTS

Behind the scenes things are still happening and I don’t really want to let those cats out of the bag until this other bunch of balls I am juggling are done. There are lots of doors opening and closing. The ‘choose your own adventure book’ has too many options so far. Failing some things or having those doors close will be beneficial and disappointing. But either way will be as cathartic moving forward to enable focus being less spread.

We have 45 episodes ready to go at the moment, 43 with Nick the Runner is out today -listen on spotify here. If the Surfcoast Century like us when we are at the event (I will be trying to speak to other people whilst I am waiting for the boys to come through - you can track the lads here.) then maybe they will chuck us up on their page.

The vibe I get with the pod is very positive. It’s just wondering if any day we are noticed by someone with a decent following that then enables us to move out of the small circle we are in now to then start on a rapid up curve…A movie that comes to mind is ‘we are your friends’ with Zac Efron. I love that movie, it is desperate, sad, life, love, loss and how those experiences enable you to create and change where you are & who you are like a caterpillar into a butterfly. Or perhaps a moth depending on your circumstances. The same situation affects everyone differently.
Sometimes pressure breaks things, other times, it creates diamonds.
I am really starting to sound like Mike ‘the situation’ Sorentino now. I think that is time to sign off.
