October the month of nil spare time
G’day again people. Thanks for reading. We are a few of these in now and we have done very little if anything to increase the reach. But that will change in the future, it’ll be on linkedin and hopefully beehive will amplify it when it gets more organic reach (people sharing, clicking links to it etc).
But alas, that is at least a month off…October is flat out.
I have around 20 events in October with Invictus Australia all over the state. I am looking forward to catching up with a lot of people I have never met and some familiar faces. I always enjoying meeting new people and then seeing how they could be helped or help other mates. I love the networking side of things. Like a ‘Hitch’ but for mates as opposed to dates.

Scattered amongst that will be more Movie shooting days - more about this in the last newsletter edition. Which is another great place to network and the crew we have are around 20 ex defence and cops. Which has been good fun. Bright last time and now more stuff will be shot with entries and other cool tactical stuff. I did however get outed as too old for this movie with my hair colour and likely thinning being well outside the age range they wanted.
On top of that we have done three pods with Pete O’Hanlon who is crashing with me whilst he is in the state for the movie shoot. The poor lad is knackered every night when he comes home and then on the weekend he’s been using the time off to adventure around the state. The lad is a real trooper and even though he’s cooked all the time he still gave me his spare time to help the podcast.
He’s also said he’s happy to help host. I have been paying him in Savvy though, which keeps him alive. Remember code ‘imposter’ to get yourself some and support the show. Eventually, Mark Curry will appear on the podcast. At least so I am told.
Then for the last two hours of sunlight I have been out on the onewheel delivering pamphlets with my head on them for the election.

Which to be fair has been great as a break in the day between doing one job and the other. Also the only sunlight I have been receiving. There are plenty of people out and about and they are always more interested in the one wheel than me running for council.
I have also been getting some calls on the election phone. Which has been very good so far. The people have been polite, respectful and a much more enjoyable experience than that of the other elections.
What hasn’t been great was that my email was setup for the election and then within the day of me being shown on the internet the account was disabled for breaching some guideline, which was impressive as I was yet to actually send or receive an email. So being a tin foil hat wearer, I would suggest a competitor likely reported it.
Anyway, I have appealed and got the email open again, unfortunately, I have 43 emails to catch up on and being its been almost three weeks likely had opportunities missed. I am finishing this newsletter and then I will be on to the email train. I responded to every email in the other elections as well I like it and being I have put my hand up to do it, I think it’s a responsibility to get back to people who have made the effort to write to you. The generic one’s I give generic answers. There are websites that will send all the candidates like spam questions. It isn’t personal so I answer the first, then cut and paste the responses. I’m not sure what I will be getting for the council one. I am interested and might do an update on that next week.

As for the pod….
Nick has been debating doing another run, crazy. Fitzy is booked in for another 100km run. That lad is actually not right in the head. Good on him though. He’d probably say the same thing about me on the election thing.
To our three subscribers. Thank you so much, it covers our monthly buzzsprout cost. Now I am able to pay for the Cohost AI which will mean there is transcripts, chapter markers and other cool things I am able to do.
We have Pete O’Hanlon on the pod doing episodes 46 (out now, listen here) which was about his time in the army and when he got out. Episode 47 is coming soon, it’ll be about his book, the process and how he went about publishing it. Along with his new book and how it’s his first foray into fiction. Episode 48 is also Pete talking movies and arm wrestling. I will likely grab Pete any spare minute I have him and we might get into more topics whilst I have him before he heads back out of Vic.
Alex Prestney is coming in under 12 hours from me writing this. I am not sure how it’ll go, he has run from Melbourne to Mildura for road trauma. He is the brother of one of the members who was killed on that day four members lost their lives hit by a truck whilst they were with a member of the public who become infamous with his behavior. I say I don’t know how it’ll go as I was an arresting member of this infamous individual so perhaps it’ll be too close to home. It might be an off air chat and I might be able to mention it here or not at all. If it’s not at all. I’m sorry but I have to respect Alex’s wishes and that of confidentiality if it’s going to breach that.
But Alex will be Episode #49 & #50 and that means… the last guest of the first season. Then I will be trying to have as many people as we have had along the way to an event out on the town, being Podapolooza 5 aka, The finale. Hopefully we have that in the next two weeks. Leaving on a high note with all the gang.
The election is done on the 26th of October. Most of the events should be done by then. The shoot finishes around the start of November. So then we can take a breath, reassess. Look at all we have achieved. See who wants to double down. Who wants to shake hands and go on their own path. Have some hugs, some tears and hopefully everyone has positive memories.
From all the enthusiasm with some of the imposters behind the scenes (Rod Henderson is killing it with his book and it is going to be an audio book!) I am looking forward to an epic intro to season 2. Who will be here, what will have been achieved and how will it look. New intro? Youtube channel? New logo? Merch? Prizes? Savvy packs? What new guests will we have. It is all very exciting for me, not sure the readers are as excited as it’s not your lives, however, I hope you have enjoyed coming along for the ride, feel like you have got to know us better and perhaps you have tried something new you wouldn’t have.
Thanks for staying with us.
Don’t Die Wondering.
